ajs4-9-06 Alan J. Schwartz is attorney at and principal of the Law Offices of Alan J. Schwartz, P.C., a small, full service law firm in Garden City, New York, engaging in the general practice of law, with a specific emphasis on all aspects of criminal defense and related matters, ranging from traffic violations, trucking violations, driving while intoxicated and related offenses, drug offenses, Fire Marshall matters, Board of Education Superintendent’s Hearings and white collar crime, to all other violations, misdemeanors and felonies, from the least to the most serious, on the local, county, state and federal levels.

Mr. Schwartz began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Office of the District Attorney of the County of Nassau in 1980, after which he went into private practice in 1985.

Mr. Schwartz has served on various faculties, lectured on Trial Techniques & served as a judge on the Polestino Trial Advocacy Institute and Nassau County Bar Association National Civil Rights Trial Competition, as well as the NYU Invitational Classic, and serves as a Nassau County Arbitrator.

Mr. Schwartz, a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Hofstra University with High Honors in English and a graduate of the St. John’s University School of Law, is admitted to practice before all Courts of the State of New York, the United States District Courts of the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York State, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He serves as President of the Jewish Lawyers Association of Nassau County, Inc., as well as a member of the Board of Directors and Vice President of the Accountant Attorney Networking Group [AANG], and Co-Chaired the Gotham Suffolk Networking Group.  Mr. Schwartz’s professional affiliations include the Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations, the Former Assistant District Attorneys Association [FADAA], the Nassau Police Reserve Association, the Law Firm Managing Partners Group, the Criminal Courts Bar Association of Nassau County, the Garden City Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Schwartz offers his experience to other attorneys as a mentor, in the “Of Counsel Mentor Program” of the Nassau County Bar Association, and currently serves as Chair of its Attorney/Accountant Committee and as a member of its Criminal Court  Law and Procedure, Real Property Law, General/Solo/Small Firm Practice and Technology and Practice Management Committees, having previously served on its General Practice, Plaintiff’s Round Table, Professional Ethics (and the Executive Sub-Committee thereof), Community Relations and Public Education’s Senior Citizens Forum Sub-Committee, Corporation Law and District Court Committees.  He also currently serves as a member of the Criminal Law, District Court, Real Property and Solo & Small Firm Practitioners Committees of the Suffolk County Bar Association, having previously served on its Law Office Management, Banking, Commercial and Corporate Law Committees.
